Nina Restieri, Founder of momAgenda and Organizational Expert
As with many great inventions, the momAgenda was created to simplify the life of its founder – and caught on like wildfire. Nina Restieri, a former successful ad executive, and businesswoman at the helm of a family business, was attempting to organize her chaotic schedule (and those of her family of four young children) one morning when she started to think about wedding planners. Why, she wondered, are there hundreds of options for brides to choose from to plan their wedding, but not a single option for mothers to plan their everyday lives? One year of extensive research later, momAgenda was born. The first run of products sold out within three days to 120 stores. At that moment, Nina knew she had struck a chord with women all over the country who had the same desire to bring some order to their hectic lives.
Since its inception in 2005, momAgenda has grown annually to include a diversified range of products that help organize the lives of mothers and others, including day planners (myAgenda, mom Agenda and Personal Portfolio) home organizers (Kitchen Folio, School Years, Wall Calendar) and helpful pads (Weekly Menu/Grocery Pad, Permission Slip, Honey Do List and Babysitter Info). The collection is sold at leading national retailers and regional boutiques throughout the US.
A graduate of Colgate University, Nina began her career in advertising at Ammirati & Puris, and later, at Grey Advertising. After honing her skills, she went to work for the direct marketing company her mother had founded and built. Throughout her life, Nina strove to emulate her mother; a woman who, despite having been faced with great obstacles, remained a wonderful mother, a successful businesswoman, and a warm, generous person. Unfortunately, Nina’s mother became extremely ill soon after Nina’s arrival at the company. Nina gave birth to her first child just five weeks before her mother’s untimely death at the age of 48. With no one to run the business, Nina stepped in as President the week following her mother’s funeral. While friends joked that she was a perfect candidate for a nervous breakdown, Nina managed to hold it all together. After two grueling years of long hours and travel, Nina could no longer bear to be away from her family and decided to sell the business.
Nina became a stay-at-home mom, and immersed herself wholeheartedly into the world of playgroups and preschool. She gave birth to three more children in six years. While Nina felt that this time in her life was priceless, there was always a part of her that thought she was not quite finished working. However, she vowed to only take on a job that would allow her to make being a mom her first priority. momAgenda was the solution.
Today, momAgenda encompasses a vast range of organizational products, many inspired by its loyal devotees. Nina gets immense joy out of helping the pieces of everyone’s personal puzzle – family, career, home and social life – come together.
