thank God it’s Monday

I always love coming into the office on Monday morning. Is it me, or are weekends even busier than weekdays now? I feel like on the weekends, Larry and I are constantly shuttling the kids to various activities like birthday parties, playdates, swimming (Matt), horseback riding (Jenna), the library (Andrew), the playground (Jamie), etc., not to mention the errands that we have to run because we are both working during the week. My momAgenda, while packed with activities every day, is even more packed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Last night we were supposed to take the kids to a little concert. But after a weekend jam-packed with activities, including Jenna’s 8th birthday sleepover party (10 kids – don’t even ask me what I was thinking), Larry and I made an executive decision that the kids would be better served by an evening of unstructured family time. The best part is, we had a blast. We went out to dinner as a family with no tears! Then we went out for ice cream and cracked up while Jamie entertained us, dancing around the Cold Stone Creamery singing “We Will Rock You.”

So I am going to really try to remember that lesson, that sometimes having “nothing” in my day planner is even better than some scheduled activity that might be more draining than rejuvenating.
