Officially a soccer mom

Many of you are familiar with the soccer rituals of fall… the shuttling to and from soccer practice after school, the Saturday games, the constant search for matching shin guards, cleats that fit, and size 3 soccer balls that are fully inflated. I love watching my kids play soccer, and ever since the second week of soccer, I have been religiously filling in my momAgenda so I don’t forget. (As some readers may remember, the first week, I forgot).

Larry and I have been living out this ritual every fall for the past 5 years or so, ever since Andrew, our 10 year old, started soccer. Now Andrew has gven it up but Jenna and Matt are very involved, and Jamie is just starting.

But I didn’t realize how much of a soccer mom I am until this morning. Because this morning, I did something I have not done ever before in my life.

Let me explain. I have been collaborating on some of our momAgenda work with my friend Ellen. It just so happens that her kids are roughly the same age as my kids (let’s face it that’s how I know just about all my friends). Well we needed to set up a meeting, and it needed to be today, and it needed to be after 3:00. And you know what that means don’t you?

You are right. We are meeting at soccer.

Yes, I have set up a work-related meeting to take place on the soccer sidelines. While dear Jenna hones her passing and scoring skills, I will be multitasking as both a mom and a business owner, making key decisions regarding my business in the great outdoors surrounded by 8 year olds.
