It is two days after Christmas, and Larry and I have spent the week not resting, not relaxing with our children, not enjoying the precious few days off… we have spent the week cleaning. I have to say, though, this is the kind of cleaning that is really satisfying.
First of all, we have one room in our house, the office off the living room, that has basically become a repository for everything we don’t know what to do with. It was filled to the brim with odds and ends, boxes of files, old pictures, aged electronic gadgets, etc. Well yesterday, we (I include the 4 kids in this) went through every inch of the office. We filed old files, I put the pictures in the corresponding albums, and we discarded or donated the old junk that we know we will never use again. The kids were extremely helpful in this effort because, for example, if I found something that belonged in the garage, I could just hand it to Andrew (or Jenna, or Matt) and say “garage,” and off he would go. Jamie, at 3, is still not old enough to be helpful… he mostly sat on Larry’s old amplifiers and sang songs for us.
Now the office looks like an office again. We might even decide to sit in it someday!
And then, as if that effort was not herculean enough, we moved on to the playroom. Now this was a project. I don’t know about you but I rarely get the chance to sift through all the old toys and weed out what is no longer being played with. The six of us sorted through every single toy in that room. I am not kidding, it took us about three hours. It was slightly difficult because Jamie is loath to part with a single one of his trucks. We basically had to stuff a bunch of them in boxes when he was not looking (don’t worry, we only took away the ones he doesn’t play with anymore… he still has plenty left). Our town dump actually has a salvation army donation center so, on our way to throw away the gross and ruined items, we were able to donate the clean and nice ones. Now our playroom looks like new again.
Hope everyone had a merry Christmas!!!

Hi! Just wanted to say that I received the 2005 -2006 Dayplanner asa gift at the birth of my second son in January 2006. I have LOVED using it over the past year and feel it helped me keep things on track in our lives with the addition of another child… I hate it though that this beautiful is now useless to me for 2007. I have logged valuable information-phone numbers, contacts, medical info etc. that now I am going to have to redo which is a lot of time used repeating a task… Is there anything I can do? I would also recommend (if you haven’t already done it) putting 2 ribbons in the book so that you can easily turn to both the month at a glance and week at a glance. Thanks for your wonderful products! Wish you the best for the New Year!
Dear Kelly,
We have made both changes you suggested. Our current line features the momEssentials pamphlet, with space for addresses, medical, and all other permanent information. Attached by ribbon in the back of the book, it can be removed and reused from year to year.
We have also added a second ribbon.
Both features were added for the 06-07 line so you don’t need to wait until next year to enjoy them. They are available in the planners that are on sale now.
Thanks!
Nina
