Scheduling Works!

Many of you know that I have been watching my weight the past few weeks. I am happy o report that it has been going well, even over THanksgiving week! I think the key is that I exercise; it really helps! Even without seeing the scale move, I can see a difference in how my clothes fit.

Finding time to exercise has been an ongoing struggle for me in the past. I am not a natural athlete, and certainly not on eof those people, like my friend Shannon, who would rather be working out than just about anything else (as if! but that’s for another day). With 4 kids under 10 and my own business to run, I can just about always think of something else to do besides work out.

Recently though a friend gave me a piece of advice that I have actually incorporated into my life. And since it’s working I want to share it with you. It may seem obvious but here it is: scheduling.

What I do is, every Sunday I sit down with my momAgenda and my workout schedules, and I write in 6 workouts as though they were appointments. I write them in pen. And then, when the inevitable obstacles arise, I treat my workouts like the real apointments they are.

Although I know I won’t make it to all 6 of my scheduled workouts, I will make it to at least 4. And for me, that is a successful week in terms of exercise.
