Use Your Words

My little guy Jamie has been cracking us up lately. He is at that age between 3 and 4, where he can talk well, but many of the things that come out of his mouth are just hysterical.

I’ll give you an example. Last night he was climbing onto the couch arm, then jumping into the air and landing on the couch cushions, whereupon he would yell “cowabunga” or something like that. Well, call me anal but I just have this thing about the furniture: I prefer that we sit on it, not stand on it. So I said to Jamie, “Honey, we sit on the furniture, we don’t stand on it.” He said, with a very sad face, and I quote, “But I’m not standing, I’m jumping.”

I must point out that he was absolutely correct on that one. Next time I will choose my words more carefully.
