Rude Awakening

Is it me or are the mornings extremely difficult for everyone else too? I am really struggling with this. Trying to get my four kids ready for school, make all their lunches, make sure they packed their backpacks, make sure hair and teeth are brushed, they have their sweater, hat, gloves, winter coat, etc., etc… mornings are total pandemonium in my house.

Here are the solutions I am going to try:

- turning off the tv. I think the noise of the tv just makes the morning more chaotic. Not to mention it distracts the kids from their task of getting ready for their day.

- pack backpacks the night before. And I am going to make the kids do this themselves (except for Jamie; at age 3, he still gets to have me help him).

I am going to try these 2 measures this week and see how it goes.

And by the way, DH thinks I should just start waking up earlier. Out of the question!!! I am already waking up at 6 due to him deciding to work out every morning in our room.

  1. Good luck!

I hate to discourage you but we already turn the tv off and pack backpacks the night before…and the mornings are STILL hectic! But i think that every little bit helps
    :-)

  2. The tv is still off and the backpacks are packed the night before so I am sticking to my guns! Now I have started packing the lunches and snacks the night before too and that is what has really made the difference. It makes for a much calmer morning and a much nicer mommy.
