Getting through this time of year is so challenging. On one hand, it can be such a joyful time of year when we reflect on our many blessings of friends and family. On the other hand, the number of commitments increases drastically in December and it can be easy to let the chaos overtake your life! Here are a few specific ideas that might help you get through this most insane time of year.
- Try to stick to your routines. It's not just the kids who benefit when there is a set routine to follow -- you benefit too. You will really feel more in control of your life if you plan your days in advance and stick to the plan.
- Try to be flexible. The one caveat to the above is, it helps if you can remain flexible so that when the inevitable things come up, you can go with the flow.
- Take shortcuts. For example, at this time of year, I buy a lot of prepared foods... that is, I let someone else do the cooking!
- Take time to chill. Taking time for yourself each day is critical to your sanity and therefore to your whole family's happiness! Take a walk, meditate, read a book, do whatever relaxes you. Then you'll have more resources for everyone else.

First of all I'd like to say how much I love the 'my agenda'! I am not a mother, but I have never found a day planner that tops the organization + looks of these planners!! I do have a question though, hopefully someone can explain it to me. When I first purchased my planner at the beginning of 2007, I noticed that it started at August of 2006 + ends immediately at Dec 2007. So in other words, I buy my 2008 planner, but only get to use it for 6 months before i'm supposed to get the next one (2009)? every other day planner I've owned started maybe in Nov. of the previous year (say, 2006) + then extended into a few months of the next year (2008) so you're able to plan for the future, not the past. Can someone make sense of this for me??

Routines are so important for children, especially when it is started at a young age. However, routines can become shaky when you're traveling through various time zones.

I want to start off by saying how much I LOVE my MomAgenda. I live out of it. There are a few things that I have found that might be useful. The first being a pocket in the front and/or back cover of the smaller book for loose papers. The other would be a section in the Address book for Babysitters numbers. In response to the posting by Ellen (12/28) I have also found the start date to be frustrating. I ended up with all of my planning for 2008 on little stickies in the back of my 2007 "Agenda", waiting for the 2008 MomAgenda on Christmas morning.
