Updating Your Address Book

My friend and co-worker Maureen gave me this great suggestion for keeping your addresses up to date. Now that the holiday card season is (finally) over, it is a good time to organize those addresses so that they'll be ready for later this year!
When your holiday cards come in, save them along with the envelopes they arrive in. After the holidays are over, sit down with your cards/envelopes and your computer or address book, wherever you store your addresses. Sort through each card, checking the return address against the one you have on file. Update the people who have moved, and make notes on any other changes, like a new baby.
I have been saving most of my cards/envelopes and plan to take on this task very soon. I actually keep my address book in my computer. At this stage of life, friends move so often, so keeping it in the computer makes it easy to make changes without making a mess.
