Recovery from Disney

April 22, 2008 11:29 AM

I need a vacation. Right now I have my day planner open in front of me, and I am searching for a free week, or long weekend, or just a spa day... something. I need to recuperate from our trip to Disney World.
Let me tell you something, I was as organized as I could possibly be. I wrote down all our plans for each day in my momAgenda; for example: morning at Magic Kingdom, lunch at hotel, evening at Epcot. I called disney dining in advance and booked lots of meals and wrote them diligently in my day planner.
And I am here to tell you, not even my compulsive planning could rescue me and Larry from the stress and chaos that is Orlando, Florida during Spring Break. There were so many people there! I did not know, quite frankly, that there were so many people. How could that many people be in one place at one time? How is disney able to draw that many visitors, every week 52 weeks a year? I am awed and baffled. I stand in admiration of the ultimate marketing machine at work.
And while the kids had a blast, and were sorry to leave orlando, I have never been so excited for a plane ride in my entire life. I got on that plane on Sunday giddy with excitement; finally, we were returning home. To normalcy (sort of).
The chaos of everyday life with 4 kids and a job is nothing, compared with the stress of 5 days in orlando.
