Flashback: November 1998 or so, when Jenna was a few months old and still in the stage of "all crying, all the time"... no really, she honestly did just cry all the time, basically until she was 9 months and learned how to walk, at which point she had a more productive channel for all her energy... but anyway, I will never forget calling Larry in my state of stay-at-home misery, and asking him, why can't it be "take your daughter to work day" today? I had heard all the hoopla about this new sort-of holiday, and would have done just about anything to get Larry to take our daughter off my hands for one heavenly day of peace and quiet.
What goes around, comes around, because at long last, Jenna is currently attending "Take Your Daughter to Work" day at Larry's firm. Of course, now she is almost 10, and she hardly every cries due to excess energy anymore. Now she is a little person with her own separate interests and talents and ideas. Ironically, now she is someone who I would relish spending a day alone with!
Come to think of it, next time it is "take your daughter to work" day, I am taking her to work with ME! Maybe someday she too will want to make day planners for busy moms...
