We at momAgenda love our friends over at Cookie Magazine, and we wanted to let you know about an exciting project they have going on right now.
They are running a contest called the Smart Cookie Readers Choice Award. There are five women who have been honored as nominees; these women have started charities that are doing amazing things to try to make our world a better place. Readers can visit the site and vote for their favorite; the winner will receive $35,000 for her cause. As an added bonus, everyone who votes will be entered into a contest; the winner of that will receive a free trip to Mexico! Now that is something I can get excited about.

Imagine my surprise when I checked out this page myself, and found that an old college acquaintance is one of the nominees! My friend Sue lost her husband on 9/11, and now she has started a charity that provides support and job training to widows in Afghanistan. Other nominees are doing equally inspiring work in other parts of the world. These amazing women have my greatest admiration!
I love the Smart Cookie Award because it truly recognizes and celebrates the women out there who are making a big difference in the lives of women and children around the world. By voting, you will do your part to help these women make our world a better place. Check it out.
