Shortcuts are underrated as a time management tool. I have been on my soapbox for years telling moms they need to ditch perfection and start to be ok with doing a “good enough” job, and that’s what shortcuts are all about. Now that many of our to do lists include (but are not limited to) child-rearing, household management, careers, staying in shape, and preparing nutritious meals for our families, we are entitled to take a few shortcuts here and there. And to not feel even the least bit apologetic about it.
Here is just a sampling of some of my favorite shortcuts….
- I buy veggies that are already cut up, salad that comes pre-washed, and snacks/drinks in single-serving sizes.
- I use sauce from a jar (my Italian relatives are cringing right now, especially my mother in law. I hope she doesn’t read this.).
- I order groceries online.
- I drive my kids to school instead of walking them.
- If my kids ask to buy lunch at school instead of bringing one from home, I say “yes.”
- I multitask: filing whole watching tv, emailing while watching the kids play outside, etc.
- I delegate: kids have to clean their own rooms and the back yard.
What about you? What are some of your favorite shortcuts?

Yes sometimes you have to get it done with shortcuts. Here’s some items on my list.
1.I multitask big time.
2.Make several freezer meals so I can have dinner done on busy nights.
3. 5 year old preps veggies for dinner. Train em young.
4. Exercise while vacuuming
5. I love the sauce in the jar. Get the right one it’s great.
I’m sure I have more but that’s all I can think of right now. Good post!
