Recently I spent time with my friend Katrina, who is a professional stylist/wardrobe consultant. She provides a fabulous and, for many busy moms, much-needed service. She will come look at your closet, completely vet everything in your wardrobe, then put together outfits you never even dreamed of putting together, complete with accessories such as shoes, bags, and jewelry. She works with items you already have in your closet, so it is not expensive to work with her.
Katrina gave me a few great tips about organizing your wardrobe for the season:
- Donate or discard anything you have not worn in the last 2 years, anything that is looking old or worn out, and anything that does not fit.
- When you are done vetting, start putting together outfits. Lay out each outfit one at a time, along with shoes and jewelry, and take a picture of it.
- After you have assembled all of your outfits, use a photo service (I use iPhoto) to create a photo book.
- Order the book, and keep it on your nightstand. In the morning when you wake up, you can choose your entire outfit for the day without even getting out of bed!
I love working with Katrina because it means I have one less thing to think about. My wardrobe choices are already made, all I have to do is pick one each day. It really does make my life easier, which as you know is something that I am constantly striving for!
