This past weekend was my 20th college reunion. I went to Colgate, which is about 4 hours from my house. My girlfriends and I decided to leave hubbies and kids at home and turn it into a girls’ weekend. It was the BEST decision because there is nothing better than a girls weekend with your oldest, best friends in the world. And other than the fact that our dorm rooms resembled filthy, dirty prison cells, the weekend was fantastic. Here is a pic of me with some of the girls:

Some of my friends here at home could not understand the idea that I wanted to go to my reunion without my family. I will tell you why. At this stage of life, when we are knee-deep in diapers and bottles, or if our kids are older, sports equipment and homework, a girls’ weekend is one of the most therapeutic and liberating experiences we can give ourselves. We give everything to our families. This weekend with my friends was a gift I gave myself.
And when I got home, and the kids told me that their dad bought them nutella and cookie crisp cereal, I barely even cared. Nothing could knock me down from the high I was on.

Just hanging out with the girls is a definite must
You all look fabulous!! I hope I can get a girl’s weekend soon.
GREAT picture! and i absolutely agree, a girls weekend away is a necessity, not a luxury!
