1. I will remember to write everything in my momAgenda. “Everything” includes, but is not limited to, appointments, kids activities, workouts, to do’s, and dinner plans.
2. I will remember to look at my momAgenda before starting my day (you would be surprised how often I forget this seemingly easy one).
3. I will finally complete my Christmas card address spreadsheet, so that next year I will order enough cards (if you are my friend, and did not receive a Christmas card from me, sorry. I ran out.)
4. I will set up a nighttime “homework routine” for my 7 year old so that we no longer have to do his homework at the last minute, while eating breakfast the day it is due (sadly he seems to have inherited my study skills).
5. I will make the school lunches/snacks the night before, rather than the morning of, so that mornings are more calm.
6. I will get my kids to actually USE the mudroom the way it was intended to be used, rather than just walk right by it and dump all their stuff on the kitchen floor.
7. I will plan meals in advance and do grocery shopping online, once a week.
8. Come to think of it I will do ALL my shopping online, not just the grocery shopping.
9. I am going to crack down on my kids and the way they (don’t) clean up after themselves. From now on, cups and dishes go straight into the dishwasher, not into the sink. Clothes and toys that are left on the floor will be confiscated. (Is this too harsh? Tell me the truth.)
10. I will forgive myself for not being perfectly organized. I know I am not even close. (No doubt my friends who are reading this are now giggling at this vast understatement.)
How about you? What are your organizing resolutions?

This made me laugh, most of them are on my “goal” list as well! Two thoughts, one of which has changed my life (truly!): Train your kids to make their own lunches, pack snacks, etc. They own it, so they are more likely to eat it (of course, I only buy things I approve of ; D). Second, #9 is not too harsh. Your kids are old enough to take ownership of their stuff. A friend shared a great technique: put all their out-of-place stuff in a garbage bag and make them “buy” it back…you set the price, but if they are willing to let something go, they get to select something to keep. Then, you get to do (another!) dropoff at Goodwill…!
Love this list! I started 2011 with reciting #10 over & over to myself.
Keep up the great work and Thanks for sharing
Great ideas Becky, thanks for sharing them. I especially love the idea of making the kids “buy” back their stuff. I am definitely going to implement that one!
Great Resolutions! It is as if you read my mind and were watching me go through the homework drama, lunches in the morning rush, and my favorite … Actually looking at my momAgenda before I start my day!
Oh, and if you figure out how to get your kids to actually “use” your mudroom, please share the secret of your success…it is an endless frustration of mine!
Top of my New Year’s resolution list is to conquer clutter…one room at a time. I believe that ultimately this will help me to stay more organized. Wish I had a mud room. Everything gets dropped in the living room as you come in the front door. Still looking for some solutions to solve this dilema.
@#10 yeah, I’m giggling at you!
OK, I’m curious…how do you do your grocery shopping online? This I would love…
I use freshdirect.com which is available in the New York tri-state area. There are grocery delivery services all over the country, check online to see what’s available in your area.
Freshdirect has an iPhone app too so I can grocery shop while I’m commuting on train to work. I always get the 6:30-8am Saturday morning delivery. Totally saves me 3 hours on the weekend!
Mamagirl I use that app too! It’s the best; I love not having to go to the grocery store every week. I get the Sunday morning 10-12 delivery because as you know, I like to sleep late:-)
Oh! How I wish I could do grocery shopping on line! What a gift that would be.
Love your resolutions. My best one of the year…getting my girls school clothes organized for the entire week on Sunday night!
I know this comes way late, however, I was reading all the posts and just loves the ideas! I also wanted to put one out for the mudroom. I hung up those Command hooks at different levels for my girls’ coats and book bags (when not heavy). They work great! Then I put a cute basket on the floor, in the corner, where they put their gloves and accessories. Since doing this, our Mudroom always looks picked up! Hope it helps!
